Construction
The Sunny Sunglass Case is designed with attention to detail and in a very simple way. The crochet pattern below provides you with pictures of every step of the process, which will make it so much easier for you to make your own sunglass case.
You crochet the sunglass case in one piece. You start by making to bottom which is crocheted in the round. The rest of the sunglass case is also crocheted in the round, which means no thinking about turning and minimum counting.
You change color as you go.
The pattern for the crochet Sunglass case can easily be customized to fit your needs.
The pattern can easily be customized. E.g.:
If you wish the sunglass case to be longer, just crochet more rounds before you make the round with holes for the string of chains to close your case.
You can also adjust the drawstring of chains to your desire – just add or subtract chains. If you crochet fewer chains then be aware to make the string long enough to tie a knot on your sunglass case.
Lastly, you can make the tassels just the size you want. All you have to do is make sure that they can fit through the holes in the case. If you know you want larger tassels must adjust the holes and make them 3 chains instead of 2 chains.
Whatever you prefer, there’s surely a color palette for your crochet sunglass case. First, choose the colors you want to use – it’s also totally okay to make it in one color. Then, all you have to do is follow to directions in the pattern and change color as you go.
Also, read more about colors in the “Yarn”-section below.
When you’re done crocheting the pattern, all you have to do is weave in all the ends and put your sunglasses in your new Sunny Sunglass Case☀️

YARN
Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK
Yardage: 50 grams = 125 meters (137 yds)
Color codes: Dolphin Blue (637) and Paper White (401)
Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK is 100% cotton. It’s really nice to work with and is high-quality cotton yarn. Also, it’s very durable, goes right into your washing machine, and comes in a variety of colors which means that you don’t have to worry about your crochet sunglass case getting dirty in use.
Materials:
Color A – Dolphin Blue (637): 1 skeins
Color B – Paper White (401): 1 skein
ALTERNATIVES: Basically, you can use any cotton yarn you want that fits a 3 or 3,5 mm crochet hook. However, look for yarn that can be washed. Go for a Worsted / DK / 8 ply / 3-weight yarn.
GAUGE
(This is an expression of how tight your work is)
4” / 10 cm square = 20 stitches wide x 20 rows tall in single crochet when using hook size 3 mm
Always make a test before you begin. If the gauge does not match the specified crochet hook, try changing to a larger or smaller one so that you find the hook with which you can achieve the specified gauge.

The Crochet Sunny Sunglass Case is one size, but you can resize the pattern as described above.

PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS FOR
THE SUNNY SUNGLASS CASE
Sunglass case
Use hook 3 mm. Worked in the round.
Use color A.
Ch 19.
Rnd 1: Start in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in each st across (18)
Do not turn your work. Instead work into the foundation chain on the opposite side, as the picture shows.
Rnd 2: Sc in each st across (36)
Rnd 3: Dc in first st, sc in next st. Alternate between dc and sc in each st across. You end with making a sc (36)
Rnd 4-16: Repeat row 3 (36)
You’re halfway with the sunglass case ☀️
Change to color B.
Rnd 17: Sc in each st across (36)
Rnd 18-30: Repeat row 17 (36)
Now measure your sunglass case to see if your sunglasses fit. If not all you have to do is add or subtract rows until the case has the right measurements.
Since you crochet in the round your work will twist a bit. Add a few sts until your hook is as the picture shows, just on the side of the sunglass case. The next row will be counted from this point.
Rnd 31: Sc in first 4 sts, ch 2, skip 2 sts, sc in next 6 sts, ch 2, skip 2 sts, sc in next 8 sts, ch 2, skip 2 sts, sc in next 6 sts, ch 2, skip 2 sts, sc in last 4 sts (36)
Rnd 32: Sc in each st across, sl st in next st (36)
Break the yarn and weave in all ends.
CHAIN STRING WITH TASSELS
Use hook 3 mm.
Use color A.
First make the chain string.
Ch 50.
Leave a tail on both sides of the chain string measuring approx. 4” / 10 cm. The tails will be used to attach the tassels.
Now it’s time to make the tassels. Follow the step-by-step instructions – see image guide below.
Use color A.
Step 1: Wrap the yarn around three fingers 5 times.
Step 2: Put one of the tails you left on the chain string into the yarn circle.
Step 3: Thread a darning needle with the tail and pull it through the last ch on the string.
Step 4: Fold the tail over yarn circle.
Step 5: Wrap the tail around the yarn circle and tie a knot.
Step 6: Wrap the tail around the circle tightly 3 times.
Step 7: Thread a darning needle with the tail and pull it through the knot.
Step 8: Cut the yarn circle open with a pair of scissors to create the tassel.
Step 9: Trim the tassel if needed.
Repeat to make the second tassels.
FINISHING THE SUNGLASS CASE
With your crochet hook gently pull the sting and tassels through the ch sps you’ve made on the next to last row on you sunglass case.
Remember to pull the string through both ch sps on both sides. This way you’ll be able to securely lock the case and keep your sunglasses safe.
Now put your sunglasses into the case and tie a knot or a bow and you’re ready to start using your new Sunny Sunglass Case 😎
enjoy!
